daughters of albion shows

kathryn and neill will be performing at two new daughters of albion shows at birmingham symphony hall and brighton dome. kathryn is compere.

these shows are a celebration of english women singers and songwriters, and feature kathryn, lisa knapp, lou rhodes, norma waterson, june tabor and bishi backed by a house band featuring neill, martin carthy and tim van eyken, under the musical direction of kate st john.

kathryn and neill first met at the first daughters of albion show- in cork opera house a few years back- that's when they decided to make a record together...

Regent's Park show- August 17th

we've just confirmed a show in regent's park open air theatre on august 17th. it will be a full band show again... martyn barker on drums and simon edwards on bass- the pair who made the recent Queen Elizabeth Hall show so great!
if you've never been to the open air theatre, it's one of the most amazing venues- an amphitheatre in the centre of regent's park, surrounded by trees. beautiful. the show starts as the sun begins to set, so by the end night has fallen completely.
kathryn played regents park a few years ago- read the 5 star guardian review here.
a couple of songs from that show ended up as tracks on kw's "relations" covers album- "hallelujah" and "these days" were recorded live at the show and were the spark that led to the creation of "relations".
it's just a magical place that makes things happen...

FREE london show

[this show is now sold out]
kathryn and neill are doing an exclusive fans only gig in central london on 5th march... the show is being put on by amazon for competition winners. the amazon competition is now closed, but we've got a few guest tickets to give away. send a mail to [competition now closed] to be in with a chance of getting a pair of tickets. it'll be on march 5th at 7pm (doors are at 6.30) in central london.

it'll be kathryn and neill's first show in england (they did some highlands and islands shows in february), so get in quick for your chance to see them live.

the show will be at gibson guitars and will be an early evening thing- we're even going to throw in a few nibbles!

28/02/2008- update: thanks to everyone who responded to this, we had hunderds of mails in just a few hours! we've mailed the winners and the competition is now closed, but we'll definitely be doing something like this again in the future, as well as some offers around the tour, so get on the mailing list to be kept informed.

new single out now!

"Come With Me", the first single from the album "Two" is out now on






the single is one of the Sunday Times' "hottest downloads" and a great review just hit the manchester evening news website.

the single's b-side is "ghost"- a great song which was written and recorded for the album, but which we just couldn't fit on the record in the end.

radio latest

mark lammarr and jo brand played "innocent when you dream" on saturday morning (sitting in for jonathan ross on radio2) , they both commented on how great it was, with mark saying it was "absolutely beautiful".
look out for an interview with kathryn and neill by simon mayo on the radio2 music club on 3rd march.
also- we just heard that kathryn and neill will be on loose ends (radio4) on 22nd march.

download of the week, podcast...

a couple of things from the world of virtual newspapers...

"Come With Me" will be the Sunday Times download of the week on 24th february.

Kathryn will be doing a podcast for the Independent- she'll be reviewing albums (Autechre, Speck Mountain, Gary Lucas, R Stevie Moore and Bauhaus) alongside a journalist, doing an interview and playing one acoustic track. should be good. it'll be available for free on the independent's site and itunes for a month from 29th feb.

jonathan ross plays single

jonathan ross played the single "Come With Me" on his saturday morning bbc radio2 programme (2nd feb). he has always been a big fan and remarked that it was "such a beautiful sound". damn right.
it looks likely that kathryn and neill will be playing a live session on the show at a future date.
mike harding has aslo been playing kathryn and neill, as has gideon coe, stuart maconie and a load of others.
the single is released on itunes on 25th feb
